All About Jane
The story of Jane Austen’s real-life romance, “Becoming Jane,” comes to the big screen this week, and the movie version of “The Jane Austen Book Club” is scheduled to open September 21. It seems like Jane-mania is now completely and thoroughly entrenched in popular culture. The BBC, Hollywood (and Bollywood) have adapted and re-interpreted most of Austen’s novels. She and her characters have inspired sequels, prequels, contemporary variations (including chick lit) and mysteries.
