« First Night Canceled | Main | Nutmeg Voting Begins »

Let's talk about Eragon

<img alt= At the monthly Nutmeg book discussion, everyone agreed to continue having monthly book discussions. The book they chose for February 13th is Eragon by Christopher Paolini. We'd like to figure out a way to see the movie as a group and then discussing that also. Call the library (797-4528) if you want to sign up.

why is first night cancled?? That was the only cool thing to do on new years eve. it was starting to become a tradition in our house to do first night!!

Al, I am very sorry, but if you go to the First Night page that I linked to, you will see that they canceled because of money, volunteers, scheduling. Perhaps next year the Teen Council should volunteer to help organize First Night.

mrs. harrigan i was thinking that too =] it would be a fun thing to do! =]

That sounded like a good idea untill I saw this article like thing on MSN:

http://movies.msn.com/movies/hitlist/12-22-06_4?GT1=7701

It named the worst movies of the yr and apparently, Eragon was the first one there...

The book discussion sounds cool but I don't know about how many people would be interested in watching the movie!

Anyways, merry xmas and happy new yearss! =]

Maybe discussing the movie might work well because it got panned so badly. We should have lots to discuss in terms of why it was so bad and perhaps how it could have been better. Just why do movies often not live up to the books? Why are some movies of books great?

SimplyyMe [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Yup...I think that's a good ideaaa!

I think that the movies vs books discussion sounds like a great idea. A lot of movies of books are good and sometimes better than the book (sometimes), but many times the book is better or they're both equally enjoyable. I read Eragon a long time ago and enjoyed it. Making a movie of it was a good idea but I haven't seen it. Aparently it's pretty bad.

I didn't read Eragon, but my brother did.... He told me that he liked it, but he wasn't interested in seeing the movie, because his friends all saw it, and they thought it was horrible
