Who should make the money?

The Financial Times reported that, on average, each employee of Nintendo will earn $1.6 million in profit for Mario & Company during 2008. Let me repeat this in case you thought I made a typo. During 2008 each employee of Nintendo will generate $1.6 million in profit for the company.

Nintendo employs less than 3000 permanent staff who make an average of $90,000. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that someone is making a whole lot of money.

Does this take the fun out of the games for you? Or do you think it is worth it and that the stockholders, investors and a few executives deserve the money?

Soldier Front by ijji

Live and fight as a soldier... "follow a soldier's perspective in every aspect possible to create the most realistic and unique experience anyone can have" (http://sfront.ijji.com/index.nhn)

This is the basis of what Soldier Front was created and developed for.

Mrs. Harrigan was kind enough to tell me about a fairly popular online military FPS (first person shooter) called Soldier Front by ijji. I was told that Soldier Front was being played by quite a few people in the library, so I thought I would give it a try.

Music & Gaming, What will they think of next?

  • Dance Dance Revolution
  • Guitar Hero
  • Rock Band
  • The Idolmaster

Back in the day (when DDR first came out), most people didn’t think about playing a hands-on game incorporating music. However, the gaming industry today is constantly introducing more and more games involving music such as the success with the Guitar Hero franchise. Some big name games to look out for which are coming out soon for the 360 are:

The Hype For Halo 3

Summary:
Its been roughly three weeks since the release of Halo 3 and the hype probably won’t die down for a long, and I mean long time. After reading an interesting article on Xbox.com [Halo 3 Statistics], I found some facts which probably won't surprise most of you, but just may tickle your brains. Here's how Halo 3 has been doing so far:

  • More than $300 million in sales in the first week alone!
  • Halo 3 is becoming the most popular Xbox Live game in history (more than 2.7 million gamers playing Halo 3 on Xbox Live in the first week. This is one-third of the 7 million Xbox Live members worldwide).
  • More than 3.6 million hours of online game-play in the first week. That’s equal to 4,500 years of continuous game play
  • Since the launch, over 30 million achievements have been unlocked by gamers.
  • About $170 million in sales on Halo 3 were within the first 24 hours of its release. (This was the biggest entertainment launch in history, beating the previous records set by the release of Spider-Man 3 and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows).
