Titanic Anniversary
Saturday, April 16 marks the 97th anniversary of the sinking of the "unsinkable" RMS Titanic. I got hooked on the story of the great ship as a child, both by reading Walter Lord's book, A Night to Remember, and watching the 1958 movie version of the book. There's a new nonprofit online encyclopedia that attempts to cover all Titanic-related subjects, and it seems to do a pretty thorough job. It's called Encyclopedia Titanica; and at the site, you'll learn that there's only one living survivor of the disaster -- who happened to be two months old that fateful night. Whether you have only a passing interest in the Titanic, or can't get enough information about it, try the new site as the anniversary of the sinking approahces.
