The public and the press are invited to attend the announcement of the
One Book, One Community (OBOC) book selection for 2012. This year’skick -off pressevent, ‘Breakfast with Buddha and Bagels,’ will be held on Wednesday, May 16 at 9am at Danbury City Hall, 155 Deer Hill Avenue. This marks the fifth year for the OBOC program in Danbury with the continued mission to promote literacy, support intergenerational and multicultural book-centered discussions, and foster a sense of community by bringing people together through the reading of the same book.
Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton will be joined by members of this year’s OBOC Planning Committee, along with distinguished guests, to speak about the program’s efforts to engage the Danbury community in reading the same
book and to formally announce this year’s book selection, “Breakfast with Buddha” by Roland Merullo. This year’s book was selected by the committee to complement the Dalai Lama’s visit to the University in October.
Brueggers will provide bagels and coffee. Five lucky attendees will have the opportunity to win a copy of the book. Everyone is invited to attend and members of local book clubs are encouraged to attend.
