1/5/2013 - Connect thru Art

Saturday, January 5, 2013

Get connected to another part of the world through art! Miguel Barreto, Director of Creative Connections Rain Forest ArtLink program, will conduct two exciting workshops, one for students and one for adults.

Workshop for students in grades 3-12.
11:00 a.m. – Noon
Farioly Program Room
This workshop is based on the current “Putting Myself
in the Picture” art exhibit at the Danbury Library and
three other Danbury locations. Participants will
become “Cultural Detectives” to examine art from
Guatemalan students living near the Rain Forest. And,
through the Internet, you’ll be able to ask questions
and explore ideas with Guatemalan student artists
living near the Maya Biosphere Reserve with a live
video conference.

Workshop for teachers/educators & parents
1:00 – 3:00pm
Farioly Program Room
Learn to use primary source artwork to enhance student
understanding of subject matter, including other cultures,
world history and the environment. Become a “cultural
detective” by examining actual student artwork from the
Guatemalan rain forest and meet and explore ideas with
young Guatemalan artists and teachers in a live facilitated
video conference.

Free! Seating is limited. REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED online
at danburylibrary.org,  or call 203-797-4527.
