Ethan and Joel Coen’s handsome and beautifully acted film is not a remake of the 1969 John Wayne film, but a new version of Charles Portis’ 1968 novel.  Jeff Bridges stars as Rooster Cogburn, a one-eyed, frequently drunk U.S. Marshall hired by 14-year-old Mattie Ross (Haillee Steinfeld) who’s incredibly determined to find her father’s murderer.
